A WEBPRO Client Advisory

That Email Was Not From Us.

A client received a message that looked like it came from WEBPRO and asked them to pay for a website renewal. It did not. If you receive anything you are unsure of, contact us directly before you click or pay.

A client forwarded us an email this month that looked, at a glance, like it came from our office. It used our name, our logo, and the name of our founder. It asked for money. It did not come from us.

The message went out on September 15, 2026, with the subject line “Website Renewal and Maintenance.” It claimed a domain, themes, and plugins were about to expire, named a price of $450, and offered to send a payment link so the work could start “right away.” The signature said Bennie Warshaw, CEO and founder of WEBPRO. The address it actually came from was [email protected].

Scam email impersonating Bennie Warshaw of WEBPRO, sent from benw.webpro@gmail.com with the subject Website Renewal and Maintenance
The message a client received on September 15, 2026. The sender is a Gmail address. WEBPRO did not send it.

That Gmail address is the tell. WEBPRO does not send client mail from Gmail. We do not invoice you out of the blue for a round number, and we do not ask you to pay by clicking a link in an email you were not expecting. If a renewal or a maintenance bill is real, you will already know about it, because we will have talked about it first.

If you did not expect the message, do not use the reply button on the message.

How to tell it is not us

Four things in this email are enough to discard it. Any one of them is enough.

  1. 01
    Sender

    The address is not ours

Real mail from this office comes from an @webpro.com address. [email protected] is not a WEBPRO account, and a lookalike display name does not change that.

  2. 02
    Payment

    The bill is a surprise

We do not ask you to pay a website renewal through a link in an unexpected email. A real invoice follows a conversation you already had with us.

  3. 03
    Urgency

    The deadline is the pressure

“Before anything expires” is there to rush you. Domain, theme, and plugin dates are things we already track. You do not need a stranger to flag them.

  4. 04
    Branding

    The logo is not proof

A copied signature and a copied mark are easy to paste under a fake letter. Trust the address and the channel, not the artwork.

What to do instead

Do not reply. Do not click. Do not pay. If you already clicked a link or sent money, call your bank, then call us, and we will help you sort out what happened.

If you receive anything you are unsure of, a renewal notice, a password reset, an invoice, a message that sounds like us and does not feel like us, contact WEBPRO on a channel you already trust. Call 888.999.4887, write [email protected], or use the contact form. Forward the message if you still have it. We would rather spend ten minutes confirming a fake than hear that a payment went out.

The rule

If you are not sure it came from us, it did not, until you have checked with us directly. Contact WEBPRO before you click or pay.

The bigger picture

When you are not sure, call us.

The inbox is full of alarms that are not alarms, and now it has messages that are not even from us. The rule is the same either way. If a note asks you to act before you understand it, do not act.

Call the number you already have. Write the address you already use. We would rather answer a false alarm than hear that a payment went out.
